Established in June 2012, the objective of the network is to support and enhance the local economy by capitalising on existing local resources and businesses. With the ongoing decline of population in regional areas, it is essential that the network take advantage of opportunities provided through improved technologies. This will allow us to enhance local relationships to provide alternative sources of revenue growth for local businesses and as a consequence the local economy.
The YPBN is a membership association and offers a variety of services to its members, sponsors and the local community.
Main Services to members include:
- Professional Development and Education – arranging speakers and presenters on topics relevant to business and business owners (e.g. Creating Websites, Life Coaching)
- Networking – promotion of businesses and strengthening of relationships through networking events (Annual Christmas Dinner)
- Training and Workshops – offering training and workshop opportunities on topics relevant to business and business owners (Facebook for Business)
- Mentoring and Support – support and mentoring for new, growing and existing businesses from experienced professionals/business owners within the community.
The YPBN is managed by a voluntary committee who have a passion for business and understand the key importance of continued learning when striving for growth. The committee acknowledges the challenges Yorke Peninsula business owners/managers face from geographical distances to major towns and cities, which in turn limits learning and mentoring opportunities. The YPBN assists by breaking down some of these barriers by creating networking opportunities which allows operators to speak freely with like-minded people about challenges and opportunities in regional business. In addition, the YPBN organises educated, skilled and experienced speakers to present to YPBN members once a month on relevant business topics such as marketing, website development, social media, organisation and life coaching.
