Our feature business today is our incredibly successful member and  local business: Country Getaways Holiday Rental. Find more information on Country Getaways Holiday Rental in our online business directory.

Country Getaways Holiday Rentals has now been inducted into the Yorke Peninsula Hall of Fame at the recent YP Tourism Awards.

Helly Easter Smith, CEO of Country Getaways Holiday Rentals, recently took the time to answer some questions for us:

What does your business do?

We rent out @ 180 self contained accommodation properties (eg shacks, beach houses, B&B’s) throughout the whole of Yorke Peninsula on behalf of homeowners.

Our comprehensive website covers all details of the individual properties and you can BOOK NOW in your own time.

Why did you set up business on the Peninsula?

After an absence of 17 years, Helly Easther-Smith returned to Yorke Peninsula and saw the need for a holiday rental business covering the whole of the Peninsula. Real Estate Agents were only

doing their immediate area, however she saw a need to provide a one stop shop for accommodation for the whole area.

What do you like about running a business on the Peninsula?

I get out and about quite a bit, sweeping the Peninsula weekly.

I get to meet some interesting people and visit many properties.

What is the main thing that you struggle with in business on the Peninsula? How have you or do you overcome this?

Meeting like minded people has been an issue.  That is why the YP Biz Network has been good for me personally and my business – the sharing of  information is valuable to any business.

In some towns, we struggle to find staff with an eye for detail who are reliable.  It can be a very rewarding and flexible job.  Facebook has been good to find staff

Do  you have a business special for this week?

Pay for 2 nights, get the third night free on selected properties

We offer all local customers and members a complimentary booking fee too.

It was a lifestyle decision taking into consideration the quality of life for my family.

Given that I can look at a screen anywhere thanks to cloud technology, I can run a thriving financial planning practice in multiple locations from a beautiful location.

What is the main thing that you struggle with in business on the Peninsula? How have you or do you overcome this?

The lower socioeconomics of the region means that the financial planning opportunities are a bit limited. The public are hard to reach in that I have been financial planning for twenty years, but not many people know what I do.

Our Business of the Week- Renowned Plumbing and Gas

Our business of the week this week is Renowned Plumbing and Gas, 348 Twartz Road Brentwood.

What does your business do?

Renowned Plumbing specializes in domestic, commercial and industrial plumbing and gas works.

Why did you set up a business on the Peninsula?

I (Craig) grew up in Brentwood and returned home to live in 2010- after many years working and travelling around Australia and abroad. In 2012 I could see that SYP could easily sustain another plumbing business so I began making moves too set up my own business.

What do you like about running a business on the Peninsula?

I moved back to the Peninsula because I was ready for the great lifestyle that our region offers. Two big pluses- no traffic and friendly clients. Another spectacular thing about running a plumbing business here is that quite often my ‘office’ has the most amazing ocean views.

What is the main thing that you struggle with in business on the Peninsula? How have you or do you overcome this?

Obtaining materials quickly is one of the biggest challenges of being down here. I need to hold a lot of stock so I’m prepared for emergency jobs. Coordinating jobs in clusters based on their location is also important yet often challenging. Organisation through effective communication with clients is everything.
